The school is affiliated to the CBSE and located at Thoothukudi. This is one of the three CBSE schools in Thoothukudi. Our mission at Good Shepherd Model School is to instruct children in the Christian faith, provide them with a solid academic foundation, and thereby provide a needed service to our community.

Mr. Joe Villvarayer Caryn opened the Good Shepherd Model School and blessed by Rev. Fr. Kirubaharan in June of 2002 at this campus. He opened with 42 students from LKG to Std VIII, and by the fall of 2004 had enough students for a Pre KG class.

By 2006 there were over 150 students enrolled from Pre KG through Std VIII, and a new 2 storey building was opened in March 2007 by Mr. David Friese Greene from UK. At this new building, KG classes were added for infant and toddler care, for which there was a high demand in the area. KG classes are equipped with Audio video systems to enhance the quality of teaching - learning process. Along with that a highly sophisticated Air conditioned Computer Laboratory was also inaugurated for the students. Added with well furnished additional airy and spacious classrooms with separate staff rooms in each floor. Laboratories for the subjects like Science and Maths were also established with all modern equipments and instruments. An air conditioned Library with more than 4000 books were also organized for students and teachers usage. A spacious Auditorium was set for the meetings and for other activities.

This campus now has over 450 students enrolled in preschool through Std X. We are moving upwards in the right path towards the Secondary classes in the forth coming years. We have well qualified and highly experienced teaching faculty with real commitment towards educating the children.

We teach English, Number work, Environmental studies, Tamil, Computer Science, Practical Art & Physical Education for KG students. For middle classes English, Tamil, Hindi, Maths, Science, Social science, Computer Science, Moral Science, General Knowledge, Physical Education, Arts & Crafts. For secondary classes English, Tamil/Hindi, Maths, Science, Social science and Computer Science.

As to encourage students we have clubs/associations like Science, English, Tamil, Maths and IT clubs. Regular activities include quizzes in all subjects, extempore competitions, Oratorical competitions, drawing competitions, science exhibitions, career counseling etc., are also carried out.

Dance (both western & classical), Karate, skating, Gymnastics and Yoga are also scheduled for the students. Squash, Cricket, Volley ball, Hockey and hand ball games are also included. Our students were awarded in the District Level Squash tournaments and achieved the National Level Squash tournament participants for the last consecutive two years.

For Christmas day celebrations Bishops of C.S.I and R.C and also Principals of different schools were the chief guests. Annual days and Sports days were conducted enthusiastically with the chief guests from Police department, Banks, Business entrepreneurs and BSNL officials were also invited . Yearly Parents’ fiesta were successfully organized, so as to improve the rapport between the parents and school management.
